NFL Logo Series Process
(Images and Video Below)
Each piece in the NFL Logo Series represents a meticulous 30+ hour journey. The process begins with conceptual development and preliminary sketches, evolving into precise drawings that serve as the architectural framework for each piece.
The watercolor phase demands both patience and swift execution - mixing precise color combinations, applying initial light glazes, then building depth through multiple washes. Each layer requires careful timing and technique to achieve smooth, even coverage while navigating intricate details. There can be as many as 15-20 layers of watercolor washes in a finished Logo Series painting. If a wash is mixed too light, it will take many extra washes to get the right amount pigmentation on the paper. If wash is mixed too dark, it will become muddy and will not “glaze” into the paper smoothly. Therefore the process becomes a time consuming game of skill and calculation to get the right mixes and apply them properly.
The final phase involves detailed ink work, where steady hands bring definition to every curve of helmet and letter, as even the slightest imperfection can disrupt the composition's delicate symmetry.
Totaling over 900 hours of artistic dedication, this collection celebrates NFL team identity through innovative technique and unwavering attention to detail.
