Charcoal Nude
“Abstract Nude”; charcoal on compressed cardboard; 17in x 22in, (2000). Private Collection
“Abstract Nude" emerged from an innovative studio session with a live model, where projected abstract imagery created dramatic intersections across the human form. Working on compressed cardboard provided a neutral middle tone, allowing Fall to sculpt the figure by both darkening with black charcoal and illuminating with white, achieving remarkable depth and dimensionality. The interplay between projected geometric shapes and the model's natural contours created a striking composition that merges classical figure study with contemporary abstraction. The piece demonstrates Fall's early command of light, shadow, and form in a uniquely challenging studio environment.
